The Butterfly Preschool and Kindergarten Class

In this class, preschool and Kindergarten students learn together. The mixed ages creates a wonderful dynamic where the older ones have leadership opportunities, mentor younger students, and are grouped according to abilities rather than age. Younger children gain confidence by watching and learning directly from their older peers.
The Butterfly Class continues to build concentration, coordination, independence and a sense of order as they have long periods of uninterrupted work time. A few things you might see students doing:

Making maps

Building words with the Movable Alphabet

Improving visual discrimination with the Brown Stair

Mastering odd and even with Numerals and Counters

Telling the story of the Good Shepherd.

In addition, grinding coffee, polishing, pouring, sweeping and mopping, serving snack, washing their own dishes, orange juicing, plant watering, and hammering are examples of daily Practical Life activities.
Our core focus is fostering a classroom community where kindergarten and preschool children care for themselves, for others and for the environment.

Classes are held Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
We also have our optional Early Bird Session 7:30-8:15 a.m.
and Extended Session 3:30-5:30 p.m.
